You’re welcome to join us for our next seminar February 24-March 1. For a month long stay at this time of year, your best bet is to pick one of the local bed and breakfasts. Short term rentals are in short supply until April when the snowbirds head north.

Hope this find you well and in good spirits. We are contemplating perhaps moving to Ajijic in a year or two after retirement. We have a reservation scheduled for mid May and wondering if we should postpone that trip. If you could tell me the situation with COVID 19 I would really appreciate it. In the mean time take good care
    thank you, Maureen

      Hola Maureen,
Currently, travel to Mexico for tourism/visits is restricted. Things continue to change but generally you need a Resident Card of Visa (i.e. Temporal or Permanante) to come. We are currently under shut-down…asked to stay home, wear masks if you need to go out for essentials. Police will stop and question people about this – and need to carry ID with you. Things may start to open up later in May, but we continue to get updates daily. Still no confirmed cases at Lakeside – but very little testing – so we assume there are cases around. Let me know if you have any specific questions and if we can help you one-on-one if and when you come for a visit! Email me at michael@focusonmexico.com

I have 6 questions. We are building a vacation home in Punta Bandera, 13 miles South of the Tijuana Border. It will be completed in December 2021 and ready to move belongings in January 2022. We are taking a living room and dinning room set of furniture, some clothing and home decor items but are planning on purchasing bedroom furniture and appliances in Tijuana. We are planning to stay there 2 weeks at a time every other month. We are keeping our house in California. My husband has dual citizenship, Mexican and American.
    1. Based on the statements above, do we still need to do a Menaje de Casa?
    2. Since we are not moving there permanently nor temporary, only using the house as a vacation home, do I need to get a Temporary Residency/Visa?
    3. I’m planning on getting my dual citizenship. My mother is a Mexican citizen (she has passed away), is it best that I acquire my dual citizenship using her citizenship or can I use my husband’s citizenship?
    4. If I get my dual citizenship do I still need to get the Menaje de Casa and or a Temporary Residency/Visa?
    5. What paper work do I need to apply for dual citizenship?
    6. Do you have a recommendation for a moving company to move a few large and small items that will take it from Valencia California to 13 miles South of the border?
Thank you very much for your time in replying to my questions.

      Hola Nancy,

Highly suggest you retain the services of an immigration lawyer (who would very likely also know answers to your customs related questions). Based on the hassle of letting even one of you 6 questions wrong, this IS the time to hire professionals!
Look to hire someone in the area to which you are moving.
      Good luck!
      Michael

Could you send me a list of places to stay as I contemplate the 6-day course in Oct/Nov 2022?
Are there any discounts for staying here during this event?
what is the average cost from the airport to LC ?

      Tommy,
Upon registration, we send you a list of recommended places to stay – there are many within a 10 minute walk of Lake Chapala Society.
Re airport, you can opt to have a Focus rep pick you up at the airport and bring you to where you are staying, or arrange a taxi at the airport (about $25 US)
Let us know if we can help with any other questions by emailing info@focusonmexico.com

We are possibly interested in participating in the November 6-11 in depth program, but wonder whether you have an itinerary of which topics are offered each day.
