That was informative Jerry and Lori. I would like tor try living in Ajijic myself, for 5 months and attend a seminar on moving to Ajijic this November. However, I don’t know how to go about finding a home that is within walking distance to the amenities in Ajijic as I won’t have a car. Do you have information in regards to contacts who would have that kind of information? Thank you, Virginia

      Hi Virginia,

We hope you will join us for the October 28-November 2 program where we will introduce you to those who can help you find a home within walking distance of the Ajijic plaza. You don’t mention whether you are interested in renting and buying, but our specialists can help you with either option. I personally don’t have or want to have a car so I started out by renting near the plaza and later bought within walking distance. Much will depend on exactly what you have in mind and one of the best ways to find out is to spend some time here getting to know the neighborhoods so that you can make a decision that fits your lifestyle.

    Hola Jerry & Lori
Can you please provide more information on your maid? You pay $65.00/month – so how often does she come in and for how many hours? What are her main chores?
We will be renting a property in San Juan Cosala from Nov -April. Many people have told us they pay 200 pesos for 4 hours twice/week. The property owner is saying the cost is 400 pesos.
If we choose to find another, less expensive maid, can you suggest how & where we would inquire?
Many thanks for your great information
    Best,
    Wendy

      Hi Wendy,
If you want to try to get Jerry & Lori’s feedback, maybe try contacting them via comment on their Youtube videos – i.e. on their Youtube channel.
My take on your questions is that 200-250p for 4 hours is average but it varies widely, so 400 for 4 hours is on the high side but if you think about it, that’s still only $5US/hour! How much are you really saving by trying to switch – not to mention that you would need to “break-in” a new maid and not all maids are equal. Re finding a new maid, it is usually best a word of mouth type exercise. That way you can say to the potential maid that “so and so” recommended you. That adds some accountability. Hope that makes sense!
      Michael
